November Observances

November 15: Sailing of the Arche d'Alliance

On this date in 1845, Francoise Perroton, the first of eleven pioneer women missionaries to the Marist
mission territory in the South Pacific, sailed from Le Havre on her way to the Island of Wallis.

The Marist Missionary Sisters had no founder, but the eleven pioneers began a work that evolved in
1931 into the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary.

Early in that evolution, the pioneers were enrolled as members of the Third Order of Mary.
